How long is it from when you got pinned to when you will ETS? Usually they won't even send you to PLDC if you are short.

Nah, PLDC is required for SSG. I got a E5 here that hasn't gone either and he's waiting to ETS next fall.

Why the hell would it matter if your ETSing??
And you only need PLDC for SSG, like someone already said.

Are you on the OML (Order of Merit List) and are denying the school or do you not even have a school date? If your name comes up to go and you deny the school then the command might push for something.

I would go if you was up on the OML. Some people might think your a shit bag for not going, besides it's only for 2 to 4 weeks. If you're broke though..that's a little different.

Your unit will not allow you to get pinned SGT and not attend PLDC before your ETS date. If you have more than 6 months before your ETS date, you will go to PLDC. My 1SG isn't even aware of the conditional promotion policy-- "PLDC is only required if you are going for E-6"

I am scheduled to attend PLDC at Fort Lewis, 12 Jan 05. I can understand why newly pinned SGT's are averse to attending PLDC. Who wants to deal with the stupid "basic training-like" mind games? I got better things to do with the Army's time. But my unit feels it is important for me to go, so I'll put up with the bullshit for 30 days.

not neccessarily.

Once you are in a promotable status, you will be put on the order of merit list. Once your name comes up, your training room (or S-3) will be notified of your school date. It is completely possible, depending on where you are stationed, that you won't go to PLDC after getting pinned SGT.

As for the original question, the only repercussion comes from if they tell you that you have to go, and you deny the school.

I want to be a NCO. I want the NCO paycheck. However I do not want the LEADERSHIP school for the NCO. The "Army of One".

PLDC in itself is easy...all you have to do is pass your P.T. test and stay awake. I understand the rule but the school is put in place for a reason...to make you a better leader. Do your Soldiers a favor and go. If your scared say your scared.

It makes you a better soldier and teaches you how too lead! You want stripes but you complain about an NCOES school that helps you.

I have too many soldiers (NCO's) in my unit that cry about going too PLDC and BNCOC.

Save it for those who have career goals and a future in the Military. Don't waste your time or your unit's time. Get out and be done with it. PUHLEEZE!![/i:f3cf5d90c7]
