Ok over the last 9 months I have taken and passed 9 pt tests with and average of 240 to 250 yet my CSM took me off the OML because I do not have 70 percent in my run. I get between 64 and 66 percent sometimes I will hit the 70 on a good day. The brigade CSM told us and him that if a soldier show that they are consistent over at least 3 pt test then we should be allowed to go. When I brought this up to him he said that he didn't care it's his unit and he would run it the way he seems fit. He already moved the training NCO out of his position because they went head to head over me on more than one occasion.

There has been several cases where he has allowed soldiers to go only after having taken 4 pt test at the mid 60's. I don't want to go to IG or the CO because that will piss him off even more. He only has 6 onths left here before he leaves. Should I go ahead and go above him or wait it out.

Oh and for my run I do so bad due to a back injury the military is debating on either fixing it, a permenate profile or medical out. But in the mean time I do all my pt and work. Sometimes I think I should take my Maasters and get the hell out.

Why the hell not? Nobody's gonna stop you.

it seems to me if others are going to WLC and not you, then its not just your PT. If you CSM does not want to send you, then there is another reason for it. Try to think past your PT and find out why he will not send you. Dont just go to IG and complain about it, because he will come out with some reason why he wont let you go and he will win. Just wait until he leaves.

Or,...try it from a different angle; volunteer to go to the SOM board and do decent. See if that could put you in a different space in regards to his additude about you.

Hell I won the Soldier of the year for the BN and took second in the Brigade soldier of the year. For all the good it did me. While every one else got passes or awards for doing that well I got nothing. I don't know maybe I dd something to piss him off and not realized it.

Another thing could be attitude and leadership potential. If your CSM doesn't see those things in you, you won't be going to WLC. One bit of advice would be to establish a good rapport with your entire NCO support channel when you first enter a new unit. And remember, nobody deserves to go to WLC or to the board. These are opportunities that are earned.

Ummmm........ If he earned it....... wouldn't he deserve to go? Roll Eyes

But hell, what do I know. Maybe he has a problem with shutting his mouth and needs to learn how to be a quiet professional. Maybe he just looks ugly. Roll Eyes Sounds like he is just gonna have to wait.

Disclaimer: If you are offended by this post, that was not the point. The point was that the soldier sounds like he is getting hosed and will more than likely have to wait it out and start with a new NCO channel. The rest was well camouflaged sarcasm.

Well, yes... but only after earning it. Razzer You don't wanna start asking to go to WLC and the board the day after you velcro on the sham shield.

A lot of Soldiers get a sense of entitlement... Hell, a lot of civilians do to!

sure you do...but you just ask what you need to do TO earn it...not to just get it.

You just say "Sergeant, what do I need to do to improve as a soldier and leader to GET the level of nco: ie going to the promotion board and wlc"

No offense for the one comment made, after all I am a little on the short and chubby side, well within tolerance.

Actually I am on very good grounds with most of the NCO'S and officers in my unit. Hell our new CO is encouraging me to submit my OCS packet. Several of the other officers and warrants and platoon sgt's are telling me to submit my wanrrant packet. So good standing with my unit is not a problem.

Having talked to a few of the senio nco's that have worked with him in other units this a typical attitude for him.

As for zone, my name keeps appearing in the command and staff briefngs as one of the people that should have gone awhile back.

Well its a moot point. I slipped a stupid disk in my back and the doctor put me on a profile pending surgery and some steroid injections.

So no WLC for me for a while. Guess I'll go sign up for my last class and finish my masters then.
