If anyone could help me I am trying to get as much info as I can as I already have the reg dealing with the WLC waiver.

I was promoted E5 in 2005 and deployed a few months after that with the 10th Mtn, 2005-2006 Aug then I returned only to have 4 months left until I went terminal.

My unit assiged me to Funeral detail which lasted 3 1/2 months in Mass. so I was living out of hotels on the govt. bill, the said I would not attend WLC because they needed the slots for E4's and E5's who had retainability.

I ETS'ed from military service and was called back up for IRR, the only way to get out of IRR and get some change with it was to come back to active duty and cashed in on the 20K the they gave out. I was assigned to Fort Campbell, KY in Aug 2007 and since being out for over 8 months gained a little weight not much it just put me over 2% which stopped me from attending WLC from about Oct 07 until Apr 08.

I was deployed yet again which is were I am at now in Apr 08 I made and pasted weight and tape in June 08 taping in 2% below my max BF now I am being recommended to attend the promotion board for E6 this month which the 1SG and the PLT SGT has also said I will attend since I have being conducting missions as a Squad leader.

But the only thing that I was told is that the 1SG didnt want to open up the can of worms on the waiver for WLC since I had so much time to attend in the rear which is not the case this is my 4th combat deployment and I will that if I was not deployed so much I could have attended it as a SPC but that was not the case.

Now I wanted to know what has to be sent up for a waiver because I know I will make points I am sitting at 598 points with out the board and my points are at 708 so with the min 130 which i am pretty sure I will blow that away. They are telling me that I will have to wait until I return in order to get WLC because where we are located in Northern Iraq I can attend schools in Baghdad which is where I think they have WLC.

I have to attend the ones up here in which the only one they have is BNOC phase 1. I dont know if anyone else has went thru this before but can they hold your promotion for almost a year since I am not returning until July 09 because I am deployed and cant go to school even thou I will make points several times during the promotable time frame and have enough time left in the army with a ets of late 2010.

I just want to have all my facts correct but dont get me wrong my PLT SGT is fighting this issue because he understands that it is not fair and if you have a leader that is being recommended by the chain of command then he deserves to be promoted not wait because of a deployment that he has no control of.
