Can my Career Counselor deny to reenlist/reclass me because I haven't been deployed yet? My CC is refusing to help me reenlist until I come back from a deployment. Can he do that?

I highly doubt that but since you are deploying, why not re-enlist/reclass downrange and get your bonus tax free? I'm not rentention so I can't tell you but there has to be another reason he won't let you...

I highly doubt it too. Like Kings said, you can do it downrange tax-free, but if you want to do it now and you meet the requirements, I don't see why he'd be able to stop you. I'm no Career Counselor though, and I'm almost positive ArmyReenlistment is about to set the record straight.

What reenlistment option are you wanting? I ask because if you are in your Stop loss/Stop move time frame you are restricted on you reenlistment options. So, it is quite possible that you cannot reenlist for what you are wanting.

Please provide a little more information - NO operational information - and maybe we can give a little more guidance.

My unit is not schedule to deploy until the end of June 09. I wanted to reclass but he specifically said that he is not letting me do anything until I deploy. I'm an intial term soldier with all of my options. If he won't help reenlist me, can I go to someone other than him?

Have you deployed before? Is the issue here that you have never deployed? I dont see that being an issue.

Without knowing the entire story, there are always two sides; I will say that I Career Counselor cannot deny you reenlistment. The Commander is the approving authority, with the input from the Career Counselor.

Perhaps it is in his wording, and you are not eligible to reenlist - like I said I do not know the entire story. However, deployment - in itself - is not a reenlistment eligibility criterion.

Is this a badge-wearing Career Counselor you are talking to about reenlisting? If not, find a Career Counselor, not a reenlistment NCO. If you are not finding out the information you need from your servicing Career Counselor, talk to his Senior Counselor. Additionally, feel free to send me a message and we can discuss in more detail any specific questions you have.

No, a Career Counselor can never deny a reenlistment ... the Army can though.

Are you stop moved? If so, you will not be getting out of this deployment through reenlistment (Options 3 through 5).

If this is an an actual Career Counselor saying this, PM me the entire story and you information and I'll get it to the right people.

Do you qualify for the MOS you're looking into?
