I went to go re enlist the other day and my battallion retention NCO told me that I have an (ASCO code of L1) the description for this code is that i was detained by civilian/military police. As this has never happened to me I asked how we fix it. The Manual she had said that the correcting authority is local S-1. So we went there and noone in the office had any clue what a ASCO Code was much less how to fix it. It has been a week now and after contacting several people all the way up to my division no one seems to no how to take this code off. Please if anyone knows anything about these codes or how to remove them please help me out. Thanx alot
Well, you started off in the right place. Your Battalion S-1 has the authority to change this code, they may not know it by the ASCO code though. You need to ask them to update your duty status, whenever a Soldier goes on leave, TDY, AWOL, confinement, etc..; the S-1 has to change the duty status. Somewhere along the line when you took leave and someone updated your duty status, they may have entered the wrong code for your duty status. If your duty status is showing present for duty, then your S-1 may have to put in a trouble ticket to see why the code is there or just resubmit "present for duty" again to see if it updates.
