I'm about to reenlist, and the SRB for my MOS is currently 2A. I want to go Green-To-Gold, but before i do, i want to take advantage of the SRB. So, if i reenlist for 5 years, and go Green-To-Gold at the end of next year, will i have to repay the bonus, and if so, how will that happen? No pay due?

Look at DOD 7000.14-R, vol. 7A, ch. 9. It's the DOD Financial Management Regulation and in this one, it covers what affects the SRB Payments. Also covered in this reg is Recoupment of Bonuses. It literally has a list of reasons why you'd have to payback your bonus.

No, don't look there ...

REENLIST and get the most out of it and you WON'T have to pay it back.

AR 601-280, Chapter 5, paragraph 5-13c states:
Recoupment of an unearned bonus is not required if the Soldier is separated to permit acceptance of a commission or warrant appointment or to enter a program leading to a commission or warrant appointment. Entitlement to additional unpaid bonus is suspended and will terminate upon commissioning or appointment. However, the entitlement to additional unpaid bonus will be reinstated and paid on a pro rata basis if the Soldier is not commissioned or appointed and returns to enlisted status in the same bonus MOS.

All bonuses are currently paid in lump sum

You do have to pay back the SRB if you do the Green to Gold Active Duty option. In order to apply for that program you must sign a memorandum that states the following:
“I understand that if selected for this training, I will refund the percentage of the bonus equal to the percentage of obligated service I will not perform in the specified MOS. My eligibility for bonus pay ceases on the date I departed my current duty station.”

Well, there's not always a loophole.

This is one of those circumstances where the Army will already have you locked up for the same amount, if not more years as an officer.

ArmyReenlistment, my reference is actually your site. If you read the memo of understanding that you must sign for the active duty program, it has that statement in it.

I looks to me that SGT King is talking about Enlistment bonuses and not selective re-enlistment bonuses.

Believe me, I would love to be wrong about this. I am applying for the active duty program next spring. Here is the link:

http://www.rotc.usaac.army.mil/scholarship_HPD2/green/S...%20ADO%20Program.doc

On the bottom of the third page, it reads the following:

I understand that if I have received an Enlistment bonus OR Selective Reenlistment bonus, I must give the end date of the bonus and will add the following statement: “I understand that if selected for this training, I will refund the percentage of the bonus equal to the percentage of obligated service I will not perform in the specified MOS. My eligibility for bonus pay ceases on the date I departed my current duty station.”

ARMY RE-UP

Where ARE you?

SGT King just posted some VERY good info, verbatim.....

Helloooooo Hellooooo?

I just got accepted into IPAP. My report date is 5 aug 07. The very next day, after i found out my reporting date.......i re-enlisted for 15,000...srb.

The EZACT qoute that SGT King had to put in his ROTC packet, is the SAME one that i had to put in my IPAP packet, when i initially applied last year.

What I want to know is, when i report to the school, yes i might WEAR OCS rank. However i will not be an officer till i graduate the 2 yr course. Therefore when is the "cut-off" date from me "Not fullfilling my enlisted mos that i re-enlisted in" Is it WHEN i report? or when i graduate?

RE-UP.

See now with green to gold there is NO seperation. They continue to get PAID, accrue leave, benifits, etc. I'm sure we all are aware of that. So to answer that question...that's the wrong citation from the reg. If you have the correct one, please do provide. The green to gold (2 yr program) as well as IPAP, as well as of course OCS, as well as AECP....all are commissioning programs, that do NOT require "seperation"

So that citation, does not apply to the question...

Just received an email back from CPT James Jones, IPAP Manager (ipap@usarec.army.mil) and he stated that Soldiers do NOT pay back bonuses.

I hope this helps to put everyones mind at ease. I would even be willing to bet that this applies to ALL officer producing programs and you can use the above reference from this point on.
