I am a 35G20. I have less than 24mos TIS left, have been on station at Ft. Bliss approx 2mos. I have not used my re-up for assignment option yet. What are my options as far as leaving this unit if I choose to? Does the time on station requirement stop me from re-upping until I have a year on fort Bliss, or can I get around it? The reason I ask is that my girlfriend, a 35F10, is at Fort Drum, we are thinking about getting married and doing the MACP. I just don't know what option is going to work the best for us to be together the soonest. Thanks alot for the help

Whatever you can do, get the hell out of Bliss. I can't stand that place. Have you ever re-enlisted? Retention ppl would have better luck at answering, but I'll guess that it doesn't matter how long you've been on station, your re-enlistment overides it.

The minimum time on station is 12-months. You can reenlist now for Fort Drum, provided a valid slot is open for you, but you'll get a report date AFTER your 12th month on station.

There used to be a 24-months time-on-station requirement, but this was changed to 12-months for Soldiers reenlisting.

Does us both getting into the MACP help our chances, or is it regardless of what you do, I am staying at Bliss until my one year mark and she is staying at Drum until her one year mark. I know the MACP is not something that is really the specialty of this forum, but any help on this would be appreciated. We'd both re-enlinst after we're married. And we'll probably be getting married before both of our one year time on station. I just am trying to find out if re-enlisting means we'll be together faster, or if the MACP can make that happen. Her 1yr time on station is in FEB09 at Drum, and mine is APR09 at Bliss.

Married Army Couples Program (MACP) is covered in AR 614-200, Chapter 5, Section IV, paragraph 5-20.

Specifically for your case is paragraph 5-22d:

d. A reassignment in CONUS, under the MACP, to establish a JD may be granted as an exception. Reassignment is contingent on the following:
(1) A valid requisition exists in the Soldier’s grade and MOS at the gaining installation, and assignments are near enough to each other to establish a JD.
(2) Losing installation does not have a critical shortage in the Soldier’s grade and MOS.
(3) Soldiers have served a minimum of 24 months (12 months when volunteering to join spouse in an OCONUS area) time–on–station when departing the losing duty station for a CONUS to CONUS reassignment. Soldiers may submit a voluntary request for OCONUS after six months time–on–station if military spouse is located OCONUS for movement after completion of 12–month TOS requirement. If both Soldiers are assigned to CONUS locations, a request for CONUS reassignment may be submitted after 14 months (for movement upon completion of 24 months TOS requirement) for PCS at Government expense.
(4) Soldiers must have 24 months time–in–service remaining after arrival at gaining installation (must be able to serve prescribed tour to join spouse overseas). If needed, this service may be acquired through extension or reenlistment prior to departing the losing duty station.
