If you are an initial term Soldier, reenlisting for Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option for airborne school, will be possible. The follow-on assignment is not guaranteed. More than likely, not sure if this 100% guaranteed, you will be sent to an airborne assignment.

Have your Career Counselor submit Fort Hood as a follow-on assignment and see if HRC approves this.

Why wouldn't you want to go to an Airborne Unit? And not to dog you, but why should the Army waste a slot on you if you just would turn around and not want an airborne slot? If the Army decides not to put you in one, that is their bad, but if you go to jump school, you should be begging for an Airborne assignment!

My opinion only though.

21BSapper, you must decide what is more important to you ... gaining a lifetime experience by jumping out of airplanes or being close to family for a couple years minus deployment time.
