I recently reclassed to 31B and received a bonus..i have realized this is not the job for me..I am a SGT(P) with 7 yrs active service...I am eligible to re-enlist in Nov of 2009, which is 24mos out from ETS, and i would have me 8 1/2 yrs in service....would I be able to re-enlist and reclass, and if so, would it be indef??

When did you graduate AIT and was this through the BEAR Program?

I graduated from 31B AIT in Nov of 2007 and yes it was through the BEAR program

What about 31B is not for you? The field, being a patrol? Deploying, I will take your place, oh wait I'm 31B also and love every minute of it.

Being a former Field Artilleryman, the field and deploying are the least of my concerns. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Seeing how MP's work and handle business is a different subject. But I will not get into that. I'm just wanting answers to see how quickly I can get out of this MOS.

31B are Y/N in the IN/OUT calls so reclassing might be a little tough. This MOS has been like this for a while with the IN/OUT calls. MP's are limited a little in what we can and can not do, it's all covered by your PMO SOP when you work the road.

It is just so sad to know how bad I want to stay where I am at an continue my job, but I get DA select for Drill Sergeant while others want out of this MOS. Gotta love the Army.

In addition to what k9nermp stated about about the In/Out calls, since AIT for MPs is 17 weeks, you'll need to spend at least 15 months before you can request reclassifcation. (AR 614-200, Table 4-1)
