So I just got locked in for Ft Lewis yesterday and the report date is Feb 10. The problem is that I am supposed to get married on the 20th of March. What is the best way to get my orders pushed back. My CC told me to go ahead and get married now at the Justice of the Peace and after I do he could get the orders amended. The only problem is I dont want to really do that because we have a big wedding planned. What are my options?

Why do you need your orders pushed back that far? I could understand a few days but over a month? You say that the wedding in PLANNED to be big. Have you already paid for the venue and stuff? Not to sounds like an ass or anything but I had to change my wedding date the week before the wedding because of mission. And then I had to work that night too! All I am saying is, while it is great when we can get the Army to work with us on things that are important to us, we have to remember that no one made us sign the dotted line (I hope) and sometimes you just have to suck it up and drive on. I just left Lewis a few months ago. Even in February there will be tons of pretty places to have the wedding. You can even do it in the only rainforest in the northern hemisphere (Olympic National Rainforest). Just be willing to be flexible.

ya i have already payed in full for the venue and it is expensive and non refundable. I can't change the dates and I am affraid that the new unit will not approve the leave for those dates because I am a new soldier. I am just trying to figure out a way to make sure I have my wedding date open with no problems. This wedding means alot to both me and my girl after dating for 7 years.

Try talking to your CoC and see what they can do. You can also try to call branch and see if they are able to push the report date back. You just need to be prepared to have to fly back from Washington to have the wedding then fly back. Try calling the gaining unit and see what they think. You might be going to a cool unit that would be understanding. Use your sponsor (if you have one). That's why they are for. Hope this helps and good luck.

Ask your Career Counselor to send a request to push back your report date 60 days. You can request up to a 90 day period so long as you have a valid reason. Retention Management Branch is the one that will process your request.
