Whenever you re-up for station of choice, thats what you get station of choice not station of choice at earliest report date. Seeings as how Recruiting orders except you from deploying I highly doubt it they will release you early to get out of Recruiting, you would serve your 3 years and then PCS to your duty station you re-up'd for, now this is my opinion based on what I have seen.

I've been meaning to ask this cause I almost volunteered for recruiting to have 3 years stabilized. How is recruiting. Is it as horrible as everyone says it is. I did 30 days hometown recruiting after basic and I luved it. Yeah there was a lot of traveling but it wasnt my gas or my car. Really wasn't that long of hours either and I know for a fact the recruiters (who were the ones that recruited me) never stayed past 1800. There were 10 people who enlisted and shipped off while I was working for those 30 days. I convinced 2 of them myself which is suprising. So yeah how is recruiting. If any the moderators could answer that would be cool. Still wanting to do later on probably in the next couple of years. I guess it's good on your records.

Everyone that I talk to that is either out there or has been out there recently....its long hours, long, long hours, its not the "real Army", but if you produce then USAREC takes care of you. You get what you put into it.

I was DA selected so I dont have a choice anymore, I was thinking of volunteering in a couple of years, just like you.

Yeah for the past 3 hours now, lol yes 3 hours I have been reading all kinds of posts on recruiting. There's alot of hatred out there for it. It's weird cause when I left my first unit half the company (may be exagerating here but it was a lot) had volunteered and they all ended up in there hometowns. I had tried cpl recruiting at the time but my 1sg told me I wouldn't want to so I reenlisted for Ft hood. LOL well that was a mistake I'm in 3ACR and the whole CAV thing, it's not for me, I came from Armor, just working with tankers. So I saw the other side of the world. THe people in my last unit there was cohesion. Most of the guys had been with the unit for 7 years and had done 2 deployments by the time I got there in 03. This unit yeah everyone hates it cause noone knows anyone we were all thrown together. So yeah I just reenlisted to reclass but seriously doubting it. I change my mind daily always been that way and my wife bless her soul is going crazy because of it. but she says whatever I do she'll be there to support me. She wants to see me be a recruiter. I know I could get it, but I'm afraid cause of all the stories. Don't want to mess, already messed up once and it took 2 years of fixing it so yeah. Well I'll stop rambling lol

I can answer your questions about recruiting because I am doing it now. It's 2300 and I just got home so I will be posting late if you want to read. If you go to recruiter school and don't have the TIS left for duty then you will have to reenlist there. No, you cannot leave recruiting to pcs or deploy. Yes, it is as horrible as they say it is. You get treated like crap. Yes, we do work very long hours (0830-2300). If you do come here leave your integrity because you won't need it. USAREC does not "take care of you". If you convert to 79R it could help you get promoted faster. If you don't, good luck. I don't know any of you guys but I will say to you to stay away from USAREC. Best of luck.
