I am curently active right now but the chances of me changing my MOS are slim because of the in and out calls. I am a e-4p right now and my ets date is Jan of 2010. I am really wanting to go back to my first mos which was 21b but with me being 92f right now it seems impossible. I was wondering if you knew if I went gaurd then went active how long I would have to be in the gaurd to be able to go back active? Do you know if I got out and got right back in active if I would be able to at least go combat arms? Thanks ahead for any info you can give.
AR, If I remember correctly, can a soldier put in paperwork for AGR ( Active Guard Reserve) up to 1 year out from ETS, and then possibly get transfered over to AGR.
tonyakay27--- when you get out, you could join the guard say as an 11B, infantry.. Guard MOSQ school is 2 weeks I believe for re-class. The thing is you join the guard, it is at a minimum 6 months before you can put in 368 to come back active. Again you join and they need people, the unit is under no obligation to sign the paperwork and release you. if that happens your best bet would be deployment, then RC to AC program ( great program if you research your options)

I know you can submit your packet some time before your ETS (a year sounds famililar), but you must wait until you actually ETS to officially enlist/transfer to any other component.
