ok, this is a bit long so bear with me:
Enlisted July 16(?) 1985 Navy DEP
Went AD Navy on 16Sept86 to Jun91
went reserve navy Jun91 to Aug94
AD Army Aug94 to Jun99
Reserve Army jun99 to present
Activated 3 months in 03 for OIF then back to my reserve component
Activated in Nov05 to Jan07 for OEF
Wounded Warrior Jan07 to Mar08
Back to reserve side Mar08 tilll my ETS (28 July 08)

I did get a "mandatory out from AD" when I hit 10yrs as a SPEC4 however the requirement to do 6 more has already expired.

there are NO BREAKS in service at any time.
I am a 52D20 looking to reclass to 25H (may be Bravo now either way it is computer tech).

I would like to go back to AD to get to retirement.
PULHES is 122111
Any chance I can get this to happen?
Also according to some my PEBD is Oct 92 while others still insiste that it should be the July85 date, which is it?

Do you mean you reached your retention control point (RCP) and couldn't reenlist so you had to ETS?

Thanks couldn't remember what it was called. Yes I RCP'd with a mandatory #yrs (think it was 6 could have been 4) in reserves. that was completed in 05(?), extended several times latest in 07 brings me to July 08 for ETS

Because you have over 10 years (almost 12) of active service, you are ineligible for reenlistment.

Confused I can't re-enlist? Why? First I am hearing about this... so does that mean since I have over 20 GOOD years total, I can retire?

I am presently in the Reserves. However, if I COULD re-up and go back Active to get 20 AFS, that would be stellar. If not well, then I guess I could alway re-up inthe Reserves and either volunteer or try for AGR.

There is not an RCP program in the reserves, so you can reenlist if you mete the rest of the qualifications.

Wheew! I was a bit worried for a minute. Ok, so doies that mean I can't go back active? OR get my reclass?

Sorry for the seemingly stupid questions, but I really need to clarify this (especially for the Mrs.)

Well, you may be able to. What is your current rank and total AFS years? You are going to have to go through a recruiter to get back on RA. Your best bet may be to go AGR because sometimes you lose rank going to RA.

Rank is E-5 AFS is I think about 12 years total. There could be months involved, but I don't have my 214 handy to tell you

No, I cannot do anything for him personally but, according to AR 601-210 Chap -10 a. you can go back active duty as long as you keep your rank of E5. The RCP is 15 years AFS. You will have to be promoted to stay past 15. Go to the recruiter’s office and tell them you want to go active. You will have to get a DD 368 from your command and they should provide you with everything you need.
