Not to burst anyones bubble on the RMC calculator, but just so you know it says I needed to make at least 48,318.19 a year to live like I did before. Im not bashing it, Im just saying that 55,000 would be closer to what I needed to make to stay about even. Trust me Im not preaching the reenlist stuff, but if you want to get out, you need to look at that calculator and add 7,000-10,000 to cover all the costs. I pay 4 times as much in taxes as I did before. Plus, getting out can be really stressfull. If you do, make sure you have a few thousand dollars saved up because as I experienced that money goes by fast. I was fortunate enough to have 2 months of leave saved up when I ETSed.
This is for anyone out there thinking about getting out or just inbetween, if your not getting a really good job, its better to reenlist.

My Mom has a really good job (IBM for 23 years) she still does not have the type of medical coverage we have. When I had my daughter she could not believe how well they took care of me. So even with the really good jobs, there is no such replacement for Tricare. Oh yeah she has a 500 dedcutible for ER visits and a Co-Pay everytime her own kids need shots or anything of that sort. Even though you may find a job that pays close to what you make in the military also think of the medical insurance.
