Well, I don’t know for sue but here are my $0.02:
1. Sometimes the best and brightest are not put in the position to make decisions. Either that or the position is so critical that they needed someone there for the time being. Then again, they might change their minds and add you back on the MTOE by then.
2. The worst answer they could give you is no. I would send it up any ways.
RE: HRC, rarely will someone receive your inquiry nor less get back with you. I had a CSM from the 75th DIV go up to the St Louis office and wait in someone’s office for 45 min before he was attended to. If he received that kind of treatment in person, you can draw your own conclusions as to how you will be treated via phone/ email.
