My husbands original ETS date was aug 15 09. He was put under stop loss and is set to deploy in the next month or so. His new ETS date is Nov 10 2010. Is it possible for him to reenlist even though he is past his original contract ets date?
And if he can reenlist while over there will the army want the stop loss pay back that they have paid us while he's been under stop loss?

Why would you throw away the $1,000 extra a month? Your DH's reenlistment bonus can't be all that good!

Okay first of all it is not about the reenlistment bonus. We don't really care about that. It is about him staying in the military. That is what he wants. He would have done it sooner but had some set backs with PT tests due to some minor injuries. But now is no longer flagged.

Sorry- I'm thinking of my family and our situation 145 and a wake up or a SL. Hoping to ETS but it's not looking good.

Donna0808,
There are several answers for you.

1) Regarding your husbands original ETS date. Policy message 09-11 which was released to the retention field on 22 July will allow your husband to reenlist for any option that he is entitled to if his contractual/original ETS falls between 22 July 2009 and 07 Jan 2010 and he reenlists between 01 October and 28 October 2009. From what you said, your husband is able to reenlist as long as he does it in October.
Your Career Counselor can help on that.

2) If he does not get locked in for an option prior to his contractual ETS date he will fall into the Exception to Policy request requirement set out by DA.

3) If you are receiving SL special pay, the Army will not take that money back, it will stop effective the day of reenlistment. Word of caution on that. If you are banking or planing on the SL pay for say 6-7 months prior to a reenlistment your husband may not be able to reenlist due to the exception to policy rule having to go to the CG HRC.
