I am currently a SPC about to reenlist for CONUS Station of choice to go to fort detrick, if I decide to go to the board in a few months and I happen to get promoted to SGT will this cancle my option or will I still be able to go to detrick?

Will your promotion automatically cancel your assignment? Not necessarily. However, you need to know what AR 601-280, Appendix E, table E-5, line 5, says.

c. If the Soldier’s rank or PMOS change before reassignment, the Soldier may be ineligible for the assignment for which reenlisting and may be assigned according to the needs of the Army.

With that said, I have never had a Soldier lose their assignment after getting promoted. Conversely, I have seen Soldiers get promoted and have trouble getting a school they for which they reenlisted. My advice is to talk with your Career Counselor and discuss your career – promotions/assignments.

Also, you may want to have your Career Counselor contact the branch to validate you can still go on the assignment if you become promotable/promoted.
