Hello,

I am a 25F currently stationed in Korea and AIPed for two years (long story). My current deros is March 2010. I have been here for 16 months now and I am ready to leave this country. I have submitted in a curtailment but was denied. My reenlistment window recently opened this July and I want to know what my options are. Would I be able to reenlist for an oconus assignment or would I be better off reclassing? If that is not available, is it possible for me to request for deployment to either Kuwait, Iraq or Afghanistan?

Since you extended for the AIP, you cannot leave until your current DEROS; therefore an assignment to Hawaii is currently out of the question.

Although Soldiers can reenlist for Kuwait assignments, again, because of your extended DEROS, you won't be getting this assignment.

Also, the only way you reenlist for a deployment to Iraq and/or Afghanistan is to reenlist for a deploying unit.

I never understood why people did AIP for two years as soon as they got to Korea (or soon after) and then turn in a Curtailment couple of weeks/months later, if not they would turn in the Curtailment the day the AIP got approved....$400 really that important than enjoying where you are stationed.

I was in KOrea if my wife would have been with me I would have AIP'd.

Lead by Example!!!

Especially if they had four kids and a wife at home. Roll Eyes

I knew someone that did this and the daughter became out of control (almost to the point of going on Maury! Big Grin You all know what I'm talking about! haha) All this for a few hundred bucks a month and to avoid going to Iraq.
