I am in a location that I would love to get out of. I have had a pretty normal career up to this point. I’ve had some good assignments and some bad ones. And normally I’m a firm believer that an assignment is as good as you make it… till I got here. I’m going to suck it up and give it my best, but I am trying to get out of here for a number of reasons.
Its not good for my wife,
Not good for my family
Not good for my personal goals
The work is not my favorite
And just all the other small things that add up.

Btw, I apologize for ranting on about this assignment; I just wanted to explain that it is not going well for me. And as I stated before, I have had bad assignments in the past. But there is no positive in this situation.

My information, I am a SGT(P). I have about 8 ½ years in. I have had bonuses in the past. I ETS in Feb 2011. I have been in my current assignment for about 2 months. I am in a “locked/priority” assignment.

I am willing to volunteer for almost anything. (including drill or recruiter) Would someone be able to help me figure out what I can do? Thank you for any help.
Also I would like to know if it is possible to re-up to get out of hear once my window opens. I have hear that yes, but only if its after 12 months here. And I also have heard NO.

Thanks.

but my recruiter said I could

Are you in a life-cycle manned unit?

I actually never asked. But come to think about it, people generally do not leave till after they do a serious deployment. But from what I have noticed, some have been leaving earlier than their 36 months. My guess is yes, I am in a life-cycle manned unit.

btw, thanks for responding so fast.

If you want to PM your unit, I'll verify if it is or not and see the end date.
