Not that I've been around a real long time, but I can still remember when they actually used geese in the external perimeter of an ADA site - somebody thought that they had a sixth sense and would alert a site to incoming aircraft or BMs. Just let one of those suckers get hurt, it was worse than misplacing an M16 or losing ammo!
Seriously though, ADA is already a very small branch in today's Army. And while still a necessary asset, I wonder how the changes in today's army will affect "Duckhunters" worldwide. It could be feasible that most will fall into a dual role of ADA missions and some type of force protection mission as well.
