I have been slotted for BNCOC but my wife is due to give birth during that time. We already have a son so she is going to need me to be there to wacth him and help out and we have no family around here that could help. I have already tried branch and its been no help they say use chain and my chain says unless I am on profile or dr says its high risk preg thats there is no way I can get out of going. Does anybody know anything I can do? What is the penalty of just saying no im not going. I am only a E5 so dont need it right now. Yes I know its a good thing to have but I can always get it someother time any body give me some help here.

Do what you got to do. No one else knows your situation better then you do.
But make sure you take care of home.
Good luck...

For your "chain" (whoever that is) to say there is no way you can get out of going is them just being lazy. If your wife gives birth while you are at BNCOC, are they not going to grant you emergeny leave to come home? While I think that you should get BNCOC as soon as possible as in this days Army you can be deployed at any time, missing your childs birth when you are not deployed is just plain mean. Deferments are given commonly for things less important then a child birth. All it takes is for your commander to sign a 4187 telling your training guy to move your class date.
