I have a BNCOC date in JAN. MY question is as follows;

On the packing list, it states "combat boot, leather (issue) -2 pair. Clothing and Sales at FT LEE does not sell those anymore. they only sell those new gortex canvas and leather boots. Will these boots be accepted in lieu of the all leather ones? If not, "any one got a pair of 9W in good shape....wait, let me rephrase...SERVICEABLE..hahaha, they want to part with?" any help would be great.

I would think as long as you had 2 pair of all leather boots, you'd be good.

I will be going to phase 1 here at FT LEE and phase 2 at FT LEONARD WOOD. I would also like to say for the record, there is a difference between all leather and (issue) boots. I am getting all types of answers even from the school. thats why I ask if anyone has been there.

The new gortex boots are currently being issued so there shouldn't be a problem. If you can find some sort of memo to back this up.

Leonard Wood still has all leather boots. I went to drill school with regular troop and jump boots. Both are all leather.

You'd have to speak with your first line supervisor about that one. He's the only one that can give you an answer of when you are going to BNCOC. Your unit has to get a slot for your first, and all that other good stuff.

Damn.. I usually don't write on here. I keep my opinions to myself. But I can not believe that nco's ask questions like these. I have privates that are more rescourceful than some of these so called nco's. Look on ako, look on hrc. Do something for yourself, other than make yourself look like an incompetent nco.

Fisherman,
I dont think your opinion reflexs an accurate representation of the situation. For those of us who have been in the Army for a little while, we know that there are stupid people out there that ask stupid things of soldiers. Now I am not saying that it is your first day or anything, but you must have been in the best unit in the Army to never have had to deal with dumb stuff. The common sense answer to the question is that if it was issued to you, it is good. I showed up in ACUs to my BNCOC and no one said anything. But there will always be that one guy that says the memo specifically stated BDUs so now you have to go home. Remember a part of NCOES is being able to follow directions. In order to find out I would contact the senior instructor for your class to make sure.

Pay attention to the asterisks, you can have one pair of tan and one pair of black boots. Ask your supervisor to confirm precisely what you need to show up with before they conduct your clothing inventory.
