am in the process of coming from the Guard to the Active Army and am looking to retrain into one of these MOS. I am not familiar with them other then what I read so I want some pros and cons of the jobs. I have all the line scores to do these jobs if I could get it so I want to be familiar with what each offers.
what are some of the pros and cons of this job and what are some assignments avalible for it?
I have been in ATC since 98, reclassed from 11B. Been stationed in tactical and fixed based facilities. I have tower, radar(GCA), non-radar approach control and lots of tac ratings.
Pro's
$225/$300 extra a month for profiency pay. great qualifications on the civilian side nothing is ever the same...ever tell pilots where to go and what to do (only when they are under postive control)! some of the Army's smartest people are ATC you get to wear another scare badge you didn't earn (basic aircrew member badge)
Con's pretty decent attrition rate (last I looked about 40%) a little of stress, really depends on facility some of the Army's dumbest people are ATC you get to wear another scare badge you didn't earn (basic aircrew member badge) AIT is at Fort Rucker, AL....nuff said
I would do it but the odds of this job happening looks very doubtful as it is not on the in/out call for my pay grade and I doubt I get to reclass from 54B even if I chose to not go active.
