suppose to ship out yesterday. But the doctor at MEPS wouldn't let me ship. I had hurt my knee at drill about three months ago. I was on cruches for about 2 weeks and my knee is fine know. But my 1st SGT. told me to make sure that I told the doctor that my medical history had changed. Then the doctor looked at my knee said it was still a little swollen and said that I need to go to an Orthapedic surgean(MS) and have them look at it and then get a paper from him stating that my knee is fine. Is this a common thing or am I just have crappy luck? I had thought about not telling the doctor because I was afraid that this might happen but I wanted to be honest. But what really pisses me off is the fact that after about 3 weeks of hurting my knee I called my unit and they called the state to try and get it approved for me to got to an Orthapedic but the state wouldn't approve it. So I'm wondering what should I do now if they won't approve it? Should I just go on my own and pay for it or what?

First I would like to say I am very sorry that you are having these problems. I too have had pretty much this specific problem. To get the state to pay for the injury care the injure must have taken place while on duty and must have been reported and the proper forms filled out pertaiing to the injury and how it happened. If both of these critea were not met then you will most likely have to fork the money out yourself, since you are responsible for keeping your body, which is not government property, in good working order, same as you will have to keep your rifle in good working order.

I hope everything starts to pick up for you. Good luck.

if it happened during drill, and it was reported, shouldn't they be fixing it?

Yes they should, unless it is determined that it didn't happen in the line of duty. However, most of us know that what should happen in the Army and what does rarely coincide

I hope everything was filled out properly. My 1st Sgt. and Commander did a LOD packet on it and everything. So hopefully I'll be hearing something back shortly. If not then I'm going to go on my own and just fork over the money cause I'm really wanting to get to OSUT and get this going.
