I am almost half way through my enlistment, just over two more years to go. I would like to re-class into some high speed MOS. I think I should clarify that by high speed I don't mean 11b. I would like an MOS that affords me good options upon seperating from the army. I have been looking into the MI field but have yet to get any answers on waivers for colorblindness. I would like to hear from the community what your opinions of the best MOS would be. Keep in mind I am colorblind. Thanks for any help.
The Best MOS is something that you would be doing regardless of if you were in the Army or not. If you would be fixing cars be a mechanic working on a computer signal. Pushing product you would do supply. The best MOS is the job that doesn't feel like work most of the time but rather a hobby you could get paid with.

Personally I think you might want to look into the 25 series and get something with computers this way you can have that's useful in the outside world as well as in the Military or mechanic on a jet would be a good idea also.

KingofMinot hit the nail on the head. Find what you like to do, and pick the MOS that most closely relates with that. You'll be a lot more likely to stay happy if you are happy with your job.
I've got to agree with Kingofminot. However, I'd say 68W is the best MOS. People will always need health care, and once you gain the MOS, you will be a National Registered EMT. So say you decided not to reenlist, you could still get work without any further training, or classes. That's probably the biggest benefit, but on that same note you could obtain ASI's in specific areas of health care ie: Cardio technician, Respitory technician, X-ray technician, all of which are in high demand on the outside, and have decent starting salaries, however with those particular areas you may need a few more certifications before you could get a job on the outside. In the grand scheme of it all, no matter where you go in the world, whether in or out of the military, people will need health care, bottom line, you will never be out of a job. Also while in the military, you are not limited to where you can be stationed, the Army needs medics everywhere, so if you like being in the field and working with the infantry, you can be stationed at any infantry division, from light to mechanized, or if you like being in a climate controlled office you can be stationed at a hospital. You can be stationed anywhere the army has Soldiers, from California to Germany. Of course the job itself is rewarding, you have a direct influence on how a Soldier feels that day, or in some cases how a Soldier may feel for a lifetime. In combat you may be the only thing keeping a Soldier alive. In short I find it an awesome career field, and I actually enjoy doing it, considering all the things the Army pays me to do, I actually enjoy my job and getting paid just makes it ten times better.
Wow, you're really poking at a hornet's nest (the poke it with your finger-instead-of-a-stick kind) with this question, however: On a daily basis as an MP, I see the best and the worst of people and the myriad of ways soldiers, of all ranks, can get themselves into trouble! I've developed great people and job skills that will enable me to confidently seek a career in law enforcement when I finally ETS. I can also use the degree I'm working toward to go another direction if I realize that the local police or other agency just isn't what I want to do.
Take the opportunities in and out of your MOS to make Army work for you, whatever career field you choose. It's more, way more, than just your MOS.
As an aside, to ArmyReenlistment, I look forward to try and get the Career Counselor school when I attain SSG. Your siganture is absolutely correct, take charge of your career before someone else does.
"To conquer the Earth with an army of flying monkeys" is not an ideal goal to give to the career counselor.
I totally agree with King or Minot. However, 21P is the best both as an Army MOS and for future potential. Having said that I must inform you that you cannot be colorblind. Most of the 21 series are good if you want a marketable trade though.
Everyone needs proper dental care. Army Soldiers aren't any different. Fortunately, dental care is one of the health services provided to Army personnel all over the world. Dental Specialists are essential members of the Army dental care team. They assist Army dentists in the examination and treatment of patients, as well as help manage dental offices.

I just went active resrve after a couple years lost time. When I was active, I was a 45K, Armament Repairer. Basically, I was a elctronics/hydraulics/weapons tech. It wasn't a BAD job, per se. But I learned that I really didn't like hanging around the motor pool all day. I did, however, get out and took a DA contract where I ran a small arms shop for a year. I made great money and honed my technical skills even more. My question to you is, would you rather be applying yourself in a field/practical environment everyday or would you rather turn wrenches on the same equipment in the MP everyday? Either way, every MOS in the army benefits the entire organization, even the Band.

Most people will think their own MOS is the best MOS in the Army. I'm surprised this thread hasn't dissolved into a bunch of airborne infantry guys high fiving each other and slapping each other on the ass ala Top Gun.
That being said, the best MOS in the Army is the one that gives you job satisfaction every day you show up. Despite the fact that the government frequently wastes resources and is generally unorganized, the Army has every MOS for a reason - everyone is needed.
Combat Arms guys need paid, need medical care and need intelligence from the intel community. They can't re-up or further their careers without people like AR, and they can't fly to their missions without the helo mechanics. They can't call for CAS without signal, and they can't effectively run detention ops and other things without MPs. We don't find blind to the public and we need the PA and combat cameramen(women) to do their jobs to get the stories out. They need 88Ms to help get equipment to and in and around theater, and they need JAG to solve issues while they are deployed.
The bottom line is, everyone needs everyone else. No matter if your job is physical, deploys a lot, or sits in the rear, the Army and every soldier in the Army needs you and whatever MOS you pick, so pick something that you would be happy doing, not something that would make you "high speed."
Everyone has their own personal choices as to why they chose the MOS that they did. Frankly I chose my MOS because I wanted to learn a foreign language and I thought that with my natural skills I would become a very good interrogator and asset to the Army. AR I'm guessing chose to be a career counselor because he probably sees job satisfaction in ensuring that his soldiers choose the career path that works best for them.
