Iam in iraq right now have aroun 11 months left in iraq. I only have about 16 months left in the army i would like to get out of the infantry. Is there and hope i would like to do something medical not a medic. What is my chance n reclassing i like the 46q. Iam not sure what all i could reclass to but i have an open mind. Any help would be great
the best thing I can tell you to do is talk to your career counselor or re-up guy, and research the MOS's in the medical field. The best place I've found to get info. on the MOS's and the qualifications is here.....
That may help. Also, the In/Out calls will give you an idea if a particular MOS needs people for a certain rank, but the re-up and/or career counselor will be able to help best.

i reclassed out of active duty 11b to reservist 68p (X-ray Technologist) back in 2005, so i'm not sure how good my experience would be to you seeing as how the army changes the reclassing rules all the time. basically just check the in/out calls, think about if you want active duty status or go the reserve/national guard route. active duty - talk to your career counselor and see what you qualify for
reserve/national guard - find a reserve/guard career counselor and see if they would be able to offer you the positions and schools you need, i find this option to be more flexible than active duty (this is what i did once active duty wouldn't give me the MOS i wanted to reclass to)
hope this helps.

The only thing is that I have known about 7 soldiers that have been screwed in similar transitions, in that their unit keeps them indefinitely on 'Will train" status and they sit around at the unit for a year or more not being MOS Qed in their new MOS. Basically because the reserve/guard unit many times will not send a Prior Service troop to a longer AIT. Did you run into this same brick wall?
i didn't have no such problem. i got out active in may 2005, played couch potato for a few months, went to junior college with g.i. bill for fall and spring semester while waiting for my orders for school in april 2006. it all went accordingly to plan, all the while i pulled extra drill days at the reserve unit such as color guard NCOIC and funeral detail NCOIC for extra cash. it all worked out well because i didn't have to work the whole time, i'm not saying that it'll work for everyone.
