I'm assuming you're an initial term Soldier (never reenlisted and no prior service)? You won't be offered 44C, Finance Clerk because this is an MOS that is balanced and slowing fadng away. 42A is a great MOS (I spent 8 years as 42L) and you'll learn alot about the entire administative portion of the Army. Promotion is pretty slow, but a more relaxed job than you're probably used to. You'd probably be assigned to a BCT S-1 ... this can be ANYWHERE! You will not be eligible for a bonus when reenlisting for Option 3, Army Training Option (unless you're deployed to Iraq, Afghanstan or Kuwait). In/Out Calls are released about every 3 to 4 months and you can find the latest In/Out Calls at http://www.armyreenlistment.com/board.htm. The latest one is April 2007.

It's also possible for someone to win the $100 million PowerBall (Mega Millions depending on where you live), but how likely is it?

I am a 42A and I actually really like the Job, it is a lot different from my previous MOS which was 88N. I have a whole new appreciation for S-1 personnel. S-1 workload is pretty heavy, we stay extremely busy. It is one of those jobs where you have to like paperwork, computers, and generally being in a seated positon, not saying we are always sitting it is not uncommon for us to be tasked out for a detail of sorts, but generally if we are in the office we are on a computer or filing papers, or something like that.
Its really not a bad job, not at all, just one that stays really busy, there are always deadlines on this or that.
