79R reclass

I am a former gold badge recruiter, a SSG with 8 years in, and am interested in going back to recruiting. I've completed BNCOC and ANCOC in my current MOS but seem to be stuck at SSG (ADA is a deadend branch for 14J). I know about the SFC option during the SFC board and have considered that but want to find out some information about actually reclassing. 79R is a reenlistment option for former recruiters correct? Is there any additional paperwork or process that must be done in order to accomplish this? Or is it a simple regular reenlistment for a new MOS, with no screening? Do you still get station of choice as you would converting while assigned in USAREC? Who would I talk to about assignment and school dates after reclassed? If someone could describe for me the process from scratch I'd really appreciate it.

Not sure if the Conversion Bonus has been extended (should have expired 31 Dec 08), but you can check it out on the Virtual Reenlistment Board.

I'll get more information tomorrow when I'm back at work.

Just saw your second message ... please don't double post as it may create confusion between your answers.

In addition to the conversion bonus, you can also look on the Virtual Reenlistment Board for information on the Recruiter Reenlistment Option.

When is your ETS?

My ETS is 27JUN10, but I'm not eligible for a bonus again until 03MAR10 (thats when I hit the C zone) I'm not so much concerned about the bonus as the job change. I'm not satisfied with my MOS, and there are very limited options and 79R is looking like the best one for now.

Also the Recruiter Renlistment option does that apply to a 79R conversion or re-enlistment for a detail recruiter posistion?

I'll get clarification on Monday about the reenlistment option since you are already a prior-recruiter.

Go see your Career Counselor soon and they can submit the reclassification paperwork for you. It won't be the same extensive packet, but there will be some paperwork involved, i.e. DA Form 4187 and commander's statement.
