I am on my second enlistment and trying to reclass to 25N. My career counselor sent up a request for school date and received reply back, saying there are no school date available. My ETS date is Feb 2009. I am really trying to get into 25N. Is there any possibility that I can still reclass to 25N? Please advise,

I just signed up for 25N last week. I am a prior service soldier (1996-2000 19K); there was only one slot available for 25N when I signed up. Furthermore, it "became available" while I was at MEPS, and after I told my counselor that the first offering of MOS's (mostly combat arms and shortage MOS's) was unsatisfactory, and that the Army was probably going to have to wait.

The part I can be sure about is that I got the last seat available for the class beginning 9 June.

Maybe you could ask your career counselor to check for you each day, and then notify you when the next slot opens up?

It's been a while, but I think I remember other soldiers doing that with their CCs when I was active.

Furthermore, since it seems to be a "hot, new MOS" it's likely that all the summer slots are filled with kids depping in from high school.

If HRC says there are on more school seats, there are no more schools seats. However, you can get with your Career Counselor about once a week (no more than that because you'll become "annoying").

Why are there no school seats?
Retention is only provided a certain percentage of AIT school seats to be filled through reenlistments, BEAR, reclassification and or MMRBs; let's say 10% for instance.

Will more school seats become available?
More than likely; HRC will posts the schools availability in RETAIN.

It looks like all the signal schools are full. A Soldier in my unit wanted to be in BEAR program for 25U, and he couldn't get his school date either.

And I was wondering what are the chances that I'll receive an assignment order and not being able to reclass(if I decide to wait for this class seat become available).

I am stationed on Okinawa, and my DROS is Nov 2008, and ETS is Mar 2009.

I'd say chances are pretty good you'll be on assignment instructions when you're within 6 months of DEROS.
