I am reclassing to 35G in feb and going TDY to Ft. Huachucua. I am currently and E-5 stationed at Ft. Lewis with my family. I don't want to go to Arizona and leave my family for 6 months and not see my wife or kids if I don't have too. But it will be kinda useless, because we have to return to Lewis so I can receive orders and PCS from here to my next duty station. Anybody who has been in this situation before, can you give me any advice on what I should do? Thanks in advance.

I have re-classed twice now. On both occasions, I received follow on orders at the AIT.

You need to look at your orders when you get them and see if they say TDY and return or TDY en route.

If 35G is longer than 20 weeks (which I believe it is) you will PCS to Hauchuca. Contact your S3 because this should not be considered TDY. I will be reclassing to 35F at Huachuca, but going TDY and return. My school is 16 weeks, thats why it is TDY.
