OK, so last month I re-enlisted for Option 3. I choose to re-class to 92M(Mortuary Affairs). They gave me a class date of AUG 2009. Is there any way to get an earlier class date?

Thanks

Did you agree to this school date?

If the Army has available school dates, your Career Counselor can find out. If there is one available, your Career Counselor can submit a Validation/Renegotiation HOTLINE to HRC for consideration.

Yes, I did agree to that date. I was just wondering, because there has go to be a class seat that will open between now and then. Say for instance, a soldier becomes unqualified for the school, a recruit changes their mind after signing up, etc. etc. etc.

Thanks for all your advice. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining because I'm just happy to have got the MOS I wanted. I just really need to get away from my current Unit/assignment ASAP.

Reenlistment only gets a small percentage of AIT class seats ... as HRC works to secure additional seats, your Career Counselor will be able to find out.

I feel your pain. I was trying to get M6 school but the earliest they could get me was Feb 2009 which is unacceptable to me because I have to hold off on getting my SSG. I have been trying to get an earlier class date, but have had no success, which baffles me since M6 is only open to prior service now, and the proponent at Ft Sam says that each class gets cancellations due to units that are deploying and will not let their soldiers go.

Not sure what the problem is, but frustrating.
Good luck to you.

Sounds like you need to submit an issue paper through your proponent.

If your branch opens class seats up, Retention Management Branch (HRC) can get a short fuse class for you.

Well I finally got a hold of a Career Counselor. He said that there is no chance of getting an earlier class date. This sucks, I'm so sick of being stationed at my current post. Starting to feel like I'm going to lose my mind Mad

Did he say why? Were there no school seats available?

Yeah, he said they were all taken and that I would have to stick with the Aug 09 class date. What happens if a seat opens up? Does it just go to waste and not get re-filled? I wish there was some type of waiting list for people that have a class date. Say if a seat opens up, they could just contact a soldier that is already slotted for the class and ask them if they want an earlier date.

In a perfect world.

Get with your Career Counselor every week or so and retention may have more school seats loaded.
