I am SSG coming back into active duty. I had two jobs, 92Y and 31B. The liason said both were overstrength so I would have to choose a new MOS. Out of the 3 the offered, I picked 35F. I am supposed to be shipping out to Fort Jackson for 2 weeks and then to Fort Huachuca for a little over 16 weeks for AIT. Has anyone done something similar? I am assuming I will be allowed to have my POV and from what I have heard I may be allowed to live seperate and have my own place or at least room. Any info would greatly satisfy my curiosity. Also if anyone ha ever been to Fort Huachuca recently I would love some info on that as well. I don't go to clubs as I am 31 but good restaurants and such would be some welcome info. thanks

You will be part of a Reclass Platoon... Yes you can have your POV and you will live in barracks and more than likely have a roomate. You will have an E-7 who is your PLT SGT and I would say that its not bad but I know people who have done the same thing and said that being an NCO and part of AIT you kinda pull double duty on going to class and mentoring the AIT students on common tasks and basic skills. Guess it cuts down on the free time but as you already know its all part of the AIT game regardless of your rank. Good luck 35F is not to bad of a job to have.

Do you take your POV out to begin with or do you just have to get it out there on your own after you begin school? I am living in Savannah so that's a pretty good hike to Arizona, especially if I have to come all the way back here to get it and drive it back!

You should be authorized to take your vehicle before you report out there.
