Ok, I have been trying to switch jobs ever since I came in. I am a 63B and I hate my job looking to switch to somewhere within the intelligence community. I have everything needed the scores, a top secret clearance, I am a SPC in Germany.

The problem is nobody can help me. My DEROS is 15 January 2009, and my ETS is 17 January 2009. Everybody keeps telling me that I have to get a school date after the 17th of 2009, I am trying to get a new job before this. Is there a way I can lock in a school date before this? Also how hard is it to get a new job being in a shortage MOS? It complicates things being in Germany...they are killing me, and if I don't get what I want then I am going to have to call it quits with the military thing.

Look into the BEAR program...96B Intel Analyst...at least that is what i plan on doing when it comes time to RE-UP Even if the in/out call for me says no..i will at least try..if I cant get it.. it is C YA..try being an E-5 Generator Mech with the E-6 cutoff score always stuck above 790..it blows

Anything that deals with Military Intelligence will be a big plus as far as promotional possibilities. Seek information in the BEAR program. 96B is a fast track MOS. A major reason is that everyone is getting out faster than they can train new analysts.

Who have you spoken with? Is it that no one can help you or no one is giving you the answer you're looking for?

FYI - Being a 63B, you cannot extend under the BEAR Program because you're already in an understrength MOS.

If you are an initial term Soldier (never reenlisted or less than 180-days active duty in the reserves/guard) you will be offered Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option.

If you reenlist for Option 3, you will be given a class date for AFTER your DEROS.
Example: Reenlist today and receive a class date for January 2009.

If you bring this attitude with you when you speak with a Career Counselor, you may get this attitude back at you. Don't try to force a Career Counselor's hand; he/she is not holding anything back or trying to cheat you out of anything.
