There are a few ways to change your MOS.

Reenlistment - Option 3, Army Training
If you are a 1st term Soldier or a Soldier in an overstrength MOS, and you are within 18-months of your ETS, you may qualify to change your MOS.

Reclassification
Check the latest In/Out Calls (available at http://www.ArmyReenlistment.com/board.htm) and see if you qualify. If your MOS is overstrength or balanced, you usually qualify.

You'll have to reclassify into an MOS that is understrength or a higher priority (see your Career Counselor for priorities)

Bonus, Extension and Retraining (BEAR) Program
See topic: http://community.armystudyguide.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/4151066041/m/5481041241

Mandatory Reclassification
Get in trouble and lose your qualification for your current MOS and you may be Mandatory Reclassified. You may not even like the MOS you are assigned.

I'm a SGT(P) looking to reclassify into 13F. My PULHES 111122, I'm interested in the 13F a BEAR MOS with a prerequisite PULHES of 111111. As a reenlisting soldier with >12 years AFS, does my PULHES disqualify me? I'm getting conflicting information, and I want to reenlist in the next week or so. I have 701 promotion points, and I'm using the 4b Exeption policy in the IN/OUT calls to reclass. I've been trying for 8plus years to reclass. Any assistance would be great. I'd like a reply if possible to my email address at howard.daniel.stacey@us.army.mil Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Are you saying you're in more or less than 12 years? I am assuming its more, but I haven't taken a math class in some time.

If you are over 10 years, you cannot extend under the BEAR Program unless that MOS offers a "C" Zone bonus.

The PULHES is a prerequisite, but your Career Counselor can sometimes obtain a waiver from the 13F schoolhouse. They are the approving authorities.

I just got off the phone with the reclass POC at HRC Denis Galligan and she said that the PULHES requirements are not for soldiers already in the military. They're for soldiers coming into the military. The limitations of the MOS from DA Pam 611-21 are what matters. Now I just need for my Career counselor to have that information, so I can continue on with my reenlistment. I'm just waiting for the points to get on my ERB.
Also as a promotable E5 I'm eligible for a 3C bonus for E6 correct?? Thank you for your assistance. SGT STacey

Good to hear about the PULHES ... Ms. Galligan is the reclass god, so her word is golden.

If there has been a change in the last few months, the counselor may not be aware of it. We do not do reclassification as much as we need to to be proficient. If you tell the Counselor that Ms. Galligan said the PULHES is not required, he/she will more than likely talk with the senior Career Counselor and get the ball rolling.

As for the bonus, the only rank that can get the higher rank bonus is the SPC(P) over year years. They can get the SGT bonus.

Go see your Career Counselor and request Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option.

All Active Component service members reclassifying for MOS 31B must be interviewed by local Provost NCO (SFC or above) or Provost Marshal (CPT or above).

Make sure you have this before you reenlist.

Just for clarfication, that doesn't mean just any MP SFC or CPT, it means THE Provost Marshal, or Provost NCO.

In accordance with the latest In/Out Calls (linked below):

4. RULES:
B. TO BE AUTHORIZED RECLASSIFICATION OUT OF CURRENT PMOS THERE MUST BE "Y" UNDER THE OUT CALL COLUMN AT THE CURRENT GRADE.

Your current MOS does not meet this qualification ... it's actually a shortage MOS, meaning they don't have enough Soldiers.
