Okay, I used to be a 94E. I reclassed to 35S. I am a SPC (P) with 570 promotion points. The cut-off score for E-5 is 517 for promotions on 1 November. I was reading AR 600-8-19 and read this:
"SPC and SGT reclassified while in a promotable status will compete against the promotion point cutoff score of the new MOS effective the month reclassification is completed and may be promoted in the newly awarded MOS effective the first day of the second month following reclassification. USAR SPC and SGT reclassified while in a promotable status will be moved to the appropriate permanent promotion recommended list (PPRL) following reclassification and promoted in sequence based on promotion points. SPC and SGT who are not on a recommended promotion list at the time of reclassification may be recommended in the new PMOS at any time following award of the new PMOS (provided otherwise eligible)."
I am graduating 35S school on October 30th. If I am reading this right, I am competing against the promotion cutoff score the month reclassification is completed, so October. I may be promoted the first day of the second month following reclassification, which would then mean November 1st. If I have 570 points, and the promotion points are at 517, do I make E-5 on November 1st? I know the by-name list of who is getting promoted is already out, and I am not on the list because I am graduating after they put that out. Do I still get picked up anyway, or do I have to wait for the next time the points drop? Thanks
You can't compete until you are awarded the MOS. You aren't awarded the MOS until OCT 30th, so how would you have been competitive for the list released for NOV 1st?
