SGT/31B 5 years guard, currently serving a 3 year active duty contract in Iraq. My question is since i was conditionally released from the guard never fulfilled a complete contract guard or active, will i be able to reenlist option 3 Retraining into either 42A or 68P?? Just curious?

Your considered Active Duty? if so have you checked the IN/OUT calls for 31B? I think we (I'm an 31B also) are listed as a N under out which means we are short, now unless it has changed recently and I have not seen it just yet it might still be a N in the OUT call.

31B is a shortage MOS (as k9nermp stated), with the in/out calls reading Y/N.

i am actually active duty, so i wont be able to reclass then?

If you are an initial term Soldier (having less than 179 days of prior active service), you will be offered Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option.

However, since both 68P and 42A are balanced at the SGT level, you probably won't be getting either of these.

No MOS bonuses for 31B SGT/SSG, but you can get a deployment bonus, if you qualify.

Not trying to whine but no bonus no reclass, wow!

If you are able to get a bonus since you are deployed like AR stated then you should get it. There are no bonus's for 31B SGT like AR also stated if you are state side!! I know because I just re-enlisted in June and did not get a bonus but I like my job.. (re-thinking about the next two years..... YES DRILL SERGEANT )

SGTFindling, even though your MOS/rank does not qualify for an MOS bonus, you may qualify for a deployed bonus, which is MOS immaterial.
