Aight im An e-5, got out once, came back in. they wouldnt let me change my job upon coming back in teh service unless i took e-4 and at the time wasnt an option. so now i have a little less than 3 years left on my contract. Currently deployed to oef. Looking into reclassing one cause im tired of this job, and i cant make my e-6 as a 25q due to the points being maxed out since ive been an e-5.
so im looking into trying to get either 11b or 19d something along those lines. How do i go about doing this? am i even going to be able to do this? any info would be apreciated..

11B and 19D isnt offered in the BEAR program, in fact your mos is in the BEAR program.
current BEAR message

So your pretty much stuck till you hit <24 months.

AR feel free to correct me.

Since you are outside your 24-month reenlistment window and your MOS is balanced, you cannot reenlist for Option 3, Army Training Reenlistment Option; you'll have to see your Career Counselor to submit a voluntary reclassification. Remember, HRC is the approval/disapproval authority for these actions, not your chain of command.

If you fully qualify and request 11B and there is a school date, I can't see a reason why you wouldn't get it.

Yes, you'll submit a DA Form 4187 for voluntary reclassification ... your Career Counselor has the formatting for this, so I would advise against typing it up yourself.

To beat a dead horse. I am also a 25Q20, I have under 24 months remaining on my current contract. I hit 10 years on the 6th of August(3 1/2 I've been promotable accumilating points), I've been a 25 series the entire time. Now, if I understand some of the previous posts in this topic and in others, the only thing(s) I could do is/are:

1. Submit a 4187 requesting volunatary reclassification and hope it gets approved by HRC? Even though the in/out calls are n/n?

2. Does the B.E.A.R. program even apply to me since my E.T.S is 31Mar2010 and I'm currently in the B zone about to be C?

I've asked for assistance time and time again from my career counselors. I'm in the 10th MTN, not too many people want to come here. I wanted to go TDY and return to change my MOS but I understand it's hard to do that and have my unit pay for it. Then I asked about just changing it and I was told no because of the in/out calls. I've been told by them that I do not qualify for the B.E.A.R. program because I'm a mid-term Soldier. Is there ANYTHING I can do? And for all intensive purposes I would like to go TDY and return to be guaranteed to stay here in the frozen tundra. I tried to search on this topic, I saw one or two posts that were a little old and wanted to know if there was updated information that I have not seen. Thanks.

Since your MOS is balanced (N/N), you qualify for the BEAR Program, but you must choose an MOS that you qualify for and that offers a "C" Zone bonus.

Also, your installation must have a need for your new MOS/rank at the present duty assignment and be willing to pay for training for you to get approved for TDY and return. It's rare, but possible.

Since you are within your 24-month reenlistment, you cannot request voluntary reclassification.

Only SSGs and above over 10 years can reenlist for the Indefinite Reenlistment Program.

Picture of 25Q and waiting

I am also a 25Q, but I did something nobody should ever do....Join the National Guard, kinda feels like a bad marrige that I am going to try and leave to come back to the Active side of the house. My question is this...I have 7 years of active duty under my belt and when I get back from Kuwait 1 1/2 yeas in the National Guard. Having my MOS will I have to wait to get my stripes back, or am I going to be able to just jump right back in. I have been an E-5 before while on active, but my state doesnt have a slot for me to get pinned again bacause they only have an E-4 slot for 25Q. Another question that I have is that if and when I get back on active duty, will I need to reclass or could I just go via the bear program, I dont know if it is different for the National Guard, but the people here cannot give me any answers. Please help me out cause I got nothing.
