I am a Spc with three years in service looking to maybe reclass out of 11B. I am currently deployed to iraq and have 2 years remaining on my current contract. Military intel is what I would be most interested in. Is there any reclass options other than EOD.

If this is your first reenlistment you will be offered to reclass out of 11B. Talk to your reenlistment NCO and start looking at jobs that you are interested, so you can see what you qualify for.

Yes this is my first reenlistment. I have a 131 gt score and a 112 DLAB. I am just getting a lot of conflicting info on re enlistments. With our operational tempo I am only in the same place as the re up nco about 5 days a month. I have been told as an 11B I am sol for reclassing unless it is to a specific shortage mos like eod. Just wondering if I am going to have other options than that. Thanks again.

We for some reason get alot of 11B reclasses in the world of air defense, its a slightly different optempo from what you are used to, its a highly technical MOS that requires alot of electronics/multi-tasking skills, possibility for promotion is high, more and more bases are opening up, and the future looks bright, check out 14E, PATRIOT missile operator/maintainer. Its typically a shortage MOS, and high bonuses are offered.

Its a great, high tech MOS. I just reclassed and am starting class this month. Next class date I believe is January 08. Guaranteed SGT upon graduation, if you don't get promoted before that, and the MOS qualifies for SRB bonus and/or BEAR. Good luck and stay safe.
