I'm new to the Army and though I have at least 18 months or so before me reenlistment window opens, I wanted to get some info from anyone on 21r.

I'm 13B Airborne qualified and am looking to reclass at the end of my current 4 year contract to 21r. I was an electrical construction apprentice before I joined and very much enjoy/am adept to the work.

Any suggestions? Is it really too early for me to be worrying about this? Any advice would be appreciated.

when i was supposed to ship to basic when i first joined i was gonna be a 21r (51r at the time). i ended up being a basic training no show (long story), so i ended up coming in as a 19d cav scout. i was looking a few years ago to reclass to 21r but i found out that that mos is being dramatically downsized and even if u somehow secure a school date u will never see above the rank of e-5 in that mos.

if u are looking to leave artillery and want a job that could compare to ur old civilian job then maybe 15f or 15y would be for u.

Got any idea about 21p? I saw in the Army times a couple months back that they seemed to be in need of more personell and were offering some sort of "SPC to Stripes" program if you reclassed and made it through AIT.

It is true. There is no 21P10 in the Army so upon completion of the school you are promoted to SGT. Check this site for info on how to apply and what the qualifications are. PPS websiteI am currently an instructor at the PPS send me a private message if there is more you would like to know.
