Since you are a SGT, you are not eligible for 68W through the BEAR Program. Who told you 63J was understrength? If it were (which it is not), you would not be eligible for the BEAR Program. Your MOS must be balanced or overstrength. 68W is balanced for SGT through SGM. They are understrength SPC and below. If you are within your 24-month reenlistment window, you can request an option exception for 68W. If HRC approves this, you'll be on your way. Just be prepared for a "Plan B".

FYI ... Y/N = understrength N/N = balanced N/Y = overstrength You can find the latest in/out calls on the Virtual Reenlistment Board. Since you are in your 24-month reenlistment window, you cannot request reclassification ... you'll either BEAR or select Option 3 (as an axception).

To reguest option exception you would use a 4187? What do I need to provide to HRC? Is it a form or something on there website?
