I'm currently a 63B SPC (P) looking at reclassing into 37F PSYOP. From what I've read, it seems to be a 'Brains-with-Brawn' MOS, which really sparks my interest, but as always, I have a few questions.
1. How much control do I have over what language I get? Does my DLAB effect that? (I scored 142) 2. Is their only location Ft. Bragg? Is there a possibility of going anywhere else, or is that about it? 3. How much do they deploy? I know it seems like a dumb question for any MOS, but relatively speaking... 4. Are PSYOP units generally large units or smaller units? (Again, relatively speaking) I'm not sure which I like better, but just curious as to what I should expect.
Thanks,
J

I will not attempt to be an expert and answer your questions directly, but I will at least offer this:
I get many CA and PSYOP soldiers into my Courses here at Bragg, and I have NEVER, not once, come across a soldier that did not love the job and the mission they had with Psyop and CA.
Take it for what its worth, but it seems to be a great situation.

How hard is it to turn down orders? I can't do it unless I get my orders to Korea canceled. Do I just call my branch manager? Does it help for my CO to call or something?

To get out of your orders, you can see your Career Counselor ASAP and reenlist for Option 2, Current Station Stabilization. This will stabilize you for 12-months and you'll obtain enough time to initiate and submit your reclassification packet.
Since this was what I wanted to do before I got picked up for recruiting orders (just a week shy of getting in ): I can tell you that they are really hurting for people now (not as much as recruiting though ). From the briefings I've been to and everything it sounds like an amazing job. I had a complete packet ready to go for regular reclassification outside of any reenlistment options (I wasn't eligible for reenlistment yet). From reading up on the PSYOPS newsletters and stuff it appears that you are able to be stationed anywhere, although the main battalions are at Fort Bragg with small detachments all over the place. As a new PSYOPS Soldier you'll have to serve in whatever Battalion you'll be designated to before you'll be given the opportunity to serve in a small detachment elsewhere. Deployments are generally shorter, but more frequent as well. This is just from what I have heard during the briefings. I recommend visiting their recruiting website which was posted above by Armyreenlistment. Start getting the items together for your packet now (before you get picked for something crazy like recruiting duty)
Do I sound disgruntled? Cause I am....just a little...

Although I may not see every single post on this board, I see most of them. Granted I am not actually at Fort Jackson's Recruiting Course yet it seems like my dozen or so different attempts of having orders deleted have all failed. I suppose I should've waited till this recruiting flux was over before I became a U.S. citizen. Who knows....maybe my mandatory mental health examination won't go that well......

Well, I called my branch manager today and she told me that as long as I get a packet together and am qualified, they'll drop my orders to Korea. I'm getting most of the stuff done pretty quick here, cuz it sounds like a sweet MOS to me, too.
Oh, is it true the DLAB is only good for 1 year?
