I have just seen my Career Counselor and submitted for a school date, since option 3 became available to mid career soldiers. I know that is is 8 wks training at FT. WOOD. I am wanting to know if reclasses are put in IET barracks or are they kept seperate?

RUN i repeat RUN dont walk away from this MOS, This is a horrible MOS. Get out of your contract with reclassing to this MOS you will be miserable. But as far as your barricks I think you get put seperate from the IET guys. My class was sorta with them, we were on the same floor as them but in a side wing in two man rooms while they were in a bay style room, just like basic. I think mine was the last class in that situation, from what I hear now the IET soldiers get put in the very nice good dorms while the reclasses get the WW2 barracks. hey Former 1st BDE, am I assuming correctly that you are currently a 31E? I am currently a 21V. I am as miserable as I care to be in the Army at this point. I cant reup for more than 4 yrs, so if I dont like what I am experiencing then I can surely exit the Army. I am not sure if I am even going to get a class date. I was only curious. I no longer want to be associated with the Engineer Branch. I was not especially interested in many of the other understrength MOSs that are out there. What is a work week like?

There is also a large number of 31Es stationed in Mannheim, Germany.

My neighbor there was a SSG 31E, he liked the job- as long as he wasn't on regular MP duty. (which wasn't THAT often, but still.)

It's Tradoc Regulation (350-6) that MOS-T (retrain) Soldiers are barracked separate from Initial Entry Training (IET) Soldiers.
I'd highly recommend reading that reg before you go back to AIT.
