Hey,

I'm a 19K of about 4 1/2 years but I've NEVER done my job. I have Sniper School and have done that my entire career since I graduated OSUT back in 03. I'm currently deployed on my 2nd tour to Iraq and myself and some SR NCOs here are wondering if there is a DA4187 format to reclass OJT or otherwise without having to go to 11B AIT. I just re-enlisted in Kuwait last December for 6 years. I had a voluntary reclass go through for November from my last unit, but I PCSd from there to Carson and they quickly shut that down due to the deployment. Any help? Thanks

Well just because you haven't done your job as a tanker doesn't mean you can't do it. But if you want to reclass to 11B, reenlistment would have been the time to do it. Career counselors can answer your questions better than anyone. Army Reenlistment, one of the moderators, will probably give you a better answer. Try writing him a private message. You might get your answer faster.

There is currently no OJT for awarding of MOS 11B.

Infantrymen must possess the following qualifications--
(1) A physical demands rating of very heavy.
(2) A physical profile of 111221.
(3) Color discrimination of red/green.
(4) Correctable vision of 20/20 in one eye; 20/100 in other eye.
(5) Qualifying scores.
(a) A minimum score of 90 in aptitude area CO on Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) tests administered prior to 2 January 2002.
(b) A minimum score of 87 in aptitude area CO on ASVAB tests administered on and after 2 January 2002.
(6) Formal training (completion of MOS 11B course conducted under the auspices of the USA Infantry School) mandatory.

Yeah, you'll see throughout your Army career that everyone has "answers", but no one can really provide the regulatory guidance to back their "answers" up. You've now found the right place to get your questions answered. Come back anytime!

Is the portion in () part of the quote from the regulation or are these your words?

I graduated Ranger School as a "soft skill" MOS and was awarded 11B without going to 11B school.

I have the orders for 11B1V, 11B2V and 11B3V as I have progressed through the ranks.

Better go see your S1.

I only quote the regulatory guidance ... this is all from the "MOS Book".

Also in the "MOS Book":
NO AIT REQUIRED FOR SOLDIERS HOLDING PMOS 11C, 11H, 11M OR RANGER QUALIFIED SOLDIERS.

Oh, and about the S-1 suggestion, they have nothing to do with reclassification and if asked about this sort of information, a good S-1 will refer you to your Career Counselor. Wink

I was reviewing my 2-1 with S-1 staff. They noticed Ranger and no 11B. S-1 initiated the paperwork and handed me the orders. I can not say if they talked to Career Counselor when I was not in the room
