Well today I received orders for where I'm going to go after I go back to AIT to reclass. Well to say the least I am pissed, It happens to be Ft. Hood that I have been here for 2yrs already. All I can say is I hate this place, don't want to offend Texans but this place holds nothing for me and I'm ready to leave here. My question is, is there a way I can get this changed before I go to back to AIT? I already went to Iraq and dealt with a year of guard duty so hopefully they can work with me. Also, it says on my orders that I can report to AIT early, so how early do they mean by that cause the report date is the 2nd of April but I would love to go there now? Any help or advise anyone could give me would be great. Thanks SPC Bohne'

If your orders say that you can report early there usually is a number of days that you can report early; i.e. 60 days early. Just read through your orders to find that out. As far as getting a new duty assignment, try to get in contact with the MP branch assignments manager and tell him/her your story and go from there. Or your career counseler might be able to help out on that part.

Did you reenlist for MP? As far as reporting early you will have to have support from your chain of command to be able to do that.

I regards to Stickboy's post, I looked all thru the orders but all it says is "Early Report Is Authorized". No amount of days early is on there anywhere. The career counselor has changed since being in Iraq where I reenlisted and he basically doesn't want to deal with me. I have also come up short on finding a number for the MP branch manager office, maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I looked all over the MP Corp website but no luck. To answer SSG Black's question, Yes I did reenlist to reclass to MP while in Iraq. "As far as reporting early you will have to have support from your chain of command to be able to do that" I have no idea how I would go abut doing this. Any additional help/advise you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Go talk to your 1SG via squad leader and platoon sergeant about your desire to report early.

Click on the link above, and go towards bottom of page. You should find some information on there that will help you.

So I got the number for branch talked to them and according to them they can't do anything for me cause it would breach my contract and that I need to talk to my career counselor. So had a little conversation with the Career counselor about what it is I wanted to do and his reply is the new date couldn't be before 60 days and I have to have a good reason. Since my reason is I want to leave here cause I don't have a job and sit on my ass all day and feel useless isn't a good enough reason, I guess I'm dead in the water. Also I looked on the ATRRS and it does show that there are spots in the school dates but according to him some of those are for recruiting, some are for retention, and some are for the department of the Army. If there isn't an open spot for retention I wouldn't able to go even though there might be a spot open in the others. So I'm wondering is this as far as I can go, is there any other option to explore. I don't want to be a whiner but I don't want to sit here wasting my time till April either.

Good thing that you found your answer. When sending a request for early report you have to have a valid reason. Its obvious that you are going to sit around there for a little while. Why not try and prepare yourself for school in the meantime, or take some college courses if your are "just sitting around". Use your time wisely because you don't know when you will have another chance of nothing to do.
