I'm a happy participant in the BEAR program and have a question that I'm perplexed by. My report date to my AIT in Maryland is 25JUL08 and the course is completed on 16OCT08. I have a follow on assignment to Ft. Lewis (lucky me as this was one on my wish list) for 30NOV08. What happens with all of this is where I'm getting foggy responses. Am I going to clear Ft. Riley before I go to class and just come back and be in limbo until my report date at Lewis in November or do I clear my unit that's going to be in Iraq and go from there? Any help is greatly appreciated and as always, thank you ahead of time.

It depends are your orders TDY ENROUTE or TDY & Return??? If its the first then you will clear your unit/post, go to school, graduate, take leave, PCS to your next duty station, inprocess. If its TDY and Return you will go TDY, come back to your unit/duty station, clear, take leave, PCS to your next duty station...There is no "limbo" time, you are either present for duty or youll be on some sort of Leave or PTDY...well you get PTDY if you are married and I would highly suggest you use it if you are moving your family with you...let me know if you got more questions...

I am sure early report is authorized, however you do need to know if your TDY en route or return. Talk to your Career Counselor that did your extension for the BEAR.

no questions, gonna have to talk to my CC now, hopefully it's tdy and return. tdy enroute would be the worst possible situation being that I'm in kansas, will be going to school in maryland, and will be stationed in washington afterwards.
