I am currently a 68p (x-ray tech) and I'm looking to reclass. My MOS is currently over strength so I have no problem getting out. I want to reclass to 68W but only if I can get an ASI of M6 (LPN). Is it possible to reclass to a MOS and request a ASI and get it written in my contract???

When you reenlist and choose Option 3, Army Training as your reenlistment option, that's it, that's what you get. You get to choose an MOS, SQI, ASI or language with the option.

Reenlistment options are different from reenlistment incentives ... you only get one per contract.

For those who chose Option 3 and were reassigned after AIT, they didn't reenlist for Options 3 and 4 or 5. They reenlist for Option 3 and the reassignment is not guaranteed.

Would it be possible to reclass to 68W and after a school date is locked in, ask the branch manager to lock me into a M6 school?

Totally possible. I believe the medical Branch Managers are some great people and really work with their Soldiers.

Best of luck!

Shaft,

I was in the same boat as you not too too long ago. I was in an OVERSTRENGTH MOS, and was actually "asked" lol by DA to reclass. (42L fast track program)

One piece of advice:

Do NOT do what you said. "lock in a 68W school date, THEN request M6". I would NOT do that. If you want 68WM6. You can get ALL of it "locked in" together.

If you want 68WM6, make sure you REQUEST TO RECLASS TO 68WM6. NOT JUST 68W. If they tell you that you just get 68W now, and can request the M6 while at FSH, its NOT gonna happen. The 68WM6 is QUICKLY filled up and booked!!

When you reclass, REQUEST 68WM6!!! And make SURE the ASI is in there when you reclass. I did it myself, as well as about 15 other prior service (other mos soldiers) in my class.

You will have to WAIT a little bit longer for a school seat to open up. However then you will be locked in for the 4 month 68W,AND the 12 month M6.

Army RE-UP was dead on. The Medical Branch Managers and the POC at FSH who approved my reclass (i had to put in a waiver, since i reclassed as an E5, however ALmost all of these are approved, as there were 12 SGT/E-5 in my class!!) they actually asked me where I wanted my Phase 2/3 M6 training. As their are 5 differant sites. I choose that too, and just had to wait 1 additional month for that slot/seat.

any M6 questions, feel free to PM me, I just graduated from the course 7 months ago!

Just make sure when you do the RECLASS, its to 68WM6, NOT 68W, and (M6 later on)!!!!
