Okay I have a two questions.

First: whats the difference between reclassing through the BEAR program and not

Second: If I pass the BMST what are the chances they will accept my packet? I have a 120GT, my physical should be good seeing how my current job is more strict on it, I had Algebra in High school and I am eligible for re-enlistment. (any requirements I missed?)

If you reclass through the BEAR program, you will receive whatever benefits are associated with 21P at the time of your agreement (i.e. training, bonus) in exchange for your reenlistment after you finish the school. You do not receive any bonus until you do so.

If you are not doing the BEAR brogram, you will be doing a straight reclass, with no agreement or guarantee of bonus. This is not to say you still cannot reenlist after you earn the MOS, but again there is no guarantee of any bonus at the time you do so.

VERY good chance your packet will get accepetd if you meet the qualifications. Get you packet together, get it submitted through your retention office and COC, and also fax a copy directly to the school.

I am currently a student at the Prime Power School, and I had my orders in hand very quickly after I applied. They need you, and they will jump through hoop to make sure a qualified applicant gets in.

By the way, the school is great, Ft. Belvoir is great, and I am very happy I applied to this school. If you have any specific questions, or need any help with your application, PM me.

Good Luck.

What are the requirements for this job 21P. I know algebra was a requirement and a 110 gt. My question that I have is that when I look at the promotion cut-offs this job is always 798 points for E5 and E6? I am an E5 and don't want to join an MOS with a super high cutoff.

Do you have the link to the 21P school so I can start a package.

So I went to my Ed center and requested to take the BMST but they said they would have to order it and it would take 1-2 weeks but here it is at 3+ weeks and they haven't received it yet. Is there a backup somewhere and thats why its not here or did it get lost in the mail?

For those that may not be aware ...

The Basic Math Science Test (BMST) is used as a diagnostic tool in the selection of Soldiers for Prime Power Production Specialist Course (MOS 21P). The BMST is intended to be used as a predictor of an applicant’s ability to successfully complete the demanding academic training phase of the program.

Is it possible to drop a partial packet for this MOS? The only thing I am waiting on now is the BMST. I need to get the ball rolling on this.
Also when I got my high school transcript they said to keep it sealed but that makes it hard to make copies, how should I proceed?

I doubt this. I know I wouldn't accept a partial packet from a Soldier. It's either you're fully qualified or your not.

Adm_wiskyky, PM me your email address and I can send you the name and number of one of the administrative staff here at the school. I have no doubt they will be able to get a copy of the test to your ed center ASAP.

Sorry to chime in so late, I've been busy. Contact the Prime Power School at this number if you cannot get the BMST and for info on your packet. (703) 806-3904

Do not delay, We are understrength right now and this is your best chance for acceptance. If you meet requirements it is almost 100% garuntee you will be accepted.

About Cuttoff scores. this is a very small field. Scores reflect open positions. Scores drop to pickup shortages. They do not stay at 798. I made six in less than a year after graduation. Some waited quite a long time. I have also made SFC and have been selected for WOCS. So the opportunities for promotion are there. You may have to work hard to get them but it is worth it.

If you have more questions PM me. I am an instructor at the school and can offer some good advice and answer questions.

I see this conversation is more than 1 year old.
I am currently deployed and trying to re-class to 21P. My current MOS is 52D and I have GT 118 and official transcript of having successfully completed a college level algebra course(actually have complete Electrical Engineering under graduated work). Cannot access the school web site neither form my own laptop or from work( military network). Is the contact information still the same?

http://usace.army.mil/PPS/Pages/default.aspx This is the address I have for the school and the info on there is less than a year old so you should be good. Sounds like all you need is to take the BMST and fill out a 4187.
