REALIGNMENT OF AIR DEFENSE OVERAGE MOS (14R) THROUGH RECLASS/REENLISMENT RETRAINING
1. THE ARMY CONTINUES TO HAVE OVERAGES IN SELECT MOSs RESULTING IN READINESS ISSUES ACROSS THE FORCE. THIS OVERAGE ALSO IMPACTS UPWARD MOBILITY FOR SOLDIERS, PREVENTING PROMOTION INTO HIGHER GRADES AND IMPACTING ASSIGNMENT OPPORTUNITIES. AS A RESULT, HRC WILL PLACE MOS 14R (BRADLEY LINEBACKER CREWMEMBER) IN THE FAST TRACK PROGRAM FOR 30 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THIS MESSAGE. (12 February 2008)
2. SOLDIERS CURRENTLY SERVING IN PMOS 14R IN THE RANK OF PVT - SFC ARE ENCOURAGED TO VOLUNTEER FOR RECLASSIFICATION OR REENLIST INTO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MOSs: 14S AND 14J. AT THE COMPLETION OF THIS 30 DAY PERIOD IF THE DESIRED NUMBER OF RECLASSIFICATIONS OUT OF MOS 14R IS NOT ACHIEVED HRC WILL EXECUTE DA DIRECT RECLASSIFICATIONS. SOLDIERS WILL BE RECLASSIFIED IAW THE NEEDS OF THE ARMY UNDER THE DA DIRECT PROCESS.
3. ALL RECLASSIFICATION AND REENLISTMENT REQUESTS ARE SUBMITTED TO HRC VIA THE RETAIN SYSTEM. SOLDIERS IN THE RANK OF PVT - SFC CURRENTLY SERVING IN PMOS 14R SHOULD CONTACT THEIR UNIT CAREER COUNSELOR FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON SPECIFIC MOS QUALIFICATIONS AND THE RECLASSIFICATION PROCESS.
Wonder why they are putting 14S in there...back before I went back to 11B land, they (Army) were trying to get me to convert from 14S to 14J because they were considering phasing out the Avenger.

I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. My good buddy had to reclass (14R) a couple of years ago. After that, I didn't even know there were still that many 14R's out there.
Success consists of going from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm

I was a 14S for 4 years in Germany. Absolutly pointless MOS. 14R's got all the Glory for having Bradley's and the Stinger guys pulled ammo detail. Reclassing to Aviation was the Best decision in my life. All those Fast tracking SFC's must be a little PO'ed!!

Maybe because you're not being phased out? Maybe because you're not grossly overstrength? I think I remember a few years ago 92A was in the Fast Track program.
AR, you are so right. I hate to say it. Hopefully this summer when I re-eup I can reclass. But Im quite sure my options will be highly limited despite all the pre-req 110GT and other things.
Since 92A is balanced from SGT through SGM, the chances are pretty decent that you may be able to get an option exception approved (if you are a mid-career Soldier) depending on the MOS you desire.
