Ok, I have a confusing one. I am an E5(P) with 6 years in in the field of 13F. I went through SFAS and, although injured, was selected. The injury has has disqualified me for ABN, therefore SFQC. I was released by my unit becuase I was unable to perform duties as a 13F. I have been working as a 68R for almost 2 years now. I recently went (finally) to an MMRB was was put in A WTU for 6 month probitory status and re-eval. Question: Both of my ortho doc's said that they do not recommend surgery at this time. Does that mean that I will sit in a WTU for 1/2 year and do nothing? I can not get promoted to SSG in a WTU or attend any NCOES schools and will not have surgery. Is there any reason for me to go to A WTU. Also, if deemed fit to stay in, will I go back to the VET (68R) field or 13F, which I have not worked in in almost two years? Or, will I be able to reclass with a P3 in to another field. No one seems to be able to answer questions here and I am getting very frustrated. CAn anyone please help? Much respected and appreciated.
I spent about 6 months in a WTU and from what I've seen, after surgery or after surgery is not recommended you just have to clear a couple more appointments and follow-ups and then you go back to the unit where you came from. That is at least what I had picked up in my short stay there. But then again I had seen people that had to stay at the WTU and work the training room/supply/etc. Just push to go wherever you want and they will most likely help you.
