I am a 25F currently in a Patriot Unit. We have been told that we have 90 days till we "may" be mandatory reclassed to needs of the Army. I was told that we can request reclass before that point, my question is if I only have about 18 months till I ETS can I request reclass with out having to reenlist ?

Thanks in Advance

This depends on the MOS you select and/or the course length. You may have to reenlist to receive the benefits of the new MOS.

18 months in the Infantry wont's kill you. Granted the only other ADA guy I knew was in my platoon and lost both legs. But seriously you might actually enjoy a good year with the best group of guys you will ever serve with. Good Luck and see you in 11B land!!!!!!!

Um, thanks for that? Confused

You won't necessarily get 11B, but it's not out of the question. It might be wise to select your MOS, before the Army selects it for you.

I too am in ADA with a little less time than and was told the same thing. Not the first time I heard it, nor will it be the last I imagine. Don't let these propaganda tactics persuade to to make an sudden decisions. Just go with the flow and see what happens. I plan to ETS as of now, and I will not be forcefully reclassed or extended without a fight.

Wow, this is horrible advice. Roll Eyes

If you just "go with the flow" and you're reclassed to an MOS you're gonna hate, what good did you do? Why not pick something that would benefit you after you've ETSed? You may have to extend for the service remaining requirement for school, but ultimately you're helping yourself.

Horrible advice to one man may not be horrible to another. Don't make an abrupt decision just because the army MAY or MAY not do something. Especially if you were thinking of getting out. Just look at your options and don't rush into a decision. As AR says, "It's YOUR career!"

Besides, even after those 90 days are up, do you honestly see DA getting something done in a timely manner?

I would reclass if there were some assurance that the same thing doesn't happen to my new MOS that happened to 25F and I end up being SPC(P) all my so called, "Career" I came in when the Army DESPERATELY needed 25F's and as soon as I get out of AIT, BLAM, 798 and been rock solid until that mixup last month when they dropped to like 629.

I guess all Im saying is just to give it more time, maybe there will be a NEW milper message or some other option that may open up for you soon. But what do I know, I'm just one of those bitter commo guys that won't ever see E5 in their "Career"

Exactly! Wink

Besides, 798 is not impossible.

Yea, 798 isn't impossible, improbable maybe.

The points system may work in the BCS or NASCAR but PLEASE someone convince DA that it is failing its soldiers on a regular basis.

How would YOU change the promotion point system?
